We love communal coffee! The atmosphere and customer service have been great every time. They even brought out pup cups to all the floofs on the patio this last time.

There's a wealth of serious coffee options in the University Heights neighborhood. In my search for the best possible espresso, I was fortunate to try a few of them during a week in the area. Communal pulls great quality espresso from good quality beans. The drinks didn't stand out from the competition, but the location is super duper fancy and upmarket. Communal is part spiffy boutique and flower shop. There is cool home decor merch and other goodies to browse. The vibes are very nice, with fancy decor fit for social media posts and meeting up with socialites and business magnates. I enjoyed the coffee and the visit, but I felt under-dressed in my dad clothes. Overall, this is legit coffee in a nice setting. If you can find parking or walk, Communal is worth a shot.

The outdoor patio recently got a face lift and the vibes are immaculate there! So much available seating, shade, and light music to create the perfect atmosphere for a coffee date or working session. Don't miss out on their yummy drinks - iced coffee is always delish but this time I tried the cucumber limeade which was more tart than overly sweet!

Lots of more seating they added since the last time I came here a couple of years ago! It has begun an ideal spot to work from. They play music but it's relaxing and not too loud. The environment has great natural light and is very open.

I wanted to take a moment to share how kind Cameron (I apologize if I misspell your name) has consistently been in our interactions. Being someone who is autistic and having a lot of dietary restrictions due to allergies, Cameron has always been patient, kind and gone above and beyond to make sure my experience is pleasant. The ube latte with espresso is my favorite and I not only enjoy the flavor, I love as you continue to drink the shades of purples, browns, blacks, white create pieces of art with each sip taken. The way it clings to the side of the cup and creates these mini masterpieces that warm my heart. I enjoyed my experience and Cameron always makes it extra safer for me to go. I enjoy how there is ample outside seating and I got to play with some of the toys available which was a nice treat. I enjoyed how there were umbrellas and a few different types of seating.

Well designed interior with earthy greens as a pop of color amongst clean whites and wood tones. Things you should know: I. PARKING Limited parking on the back side (3 spaces) & street parking available II. SERVICE I liked that Communal Coffee offers a self-service water station. What makes this cafe unique is the on-sight florist. They run out of pastries by the early evening, so it's safe to say their supply is very limited but fresh. Coffee and alcohol are both served here. There's also indoor and outdoor seating. III. QUALITY Their red wine, here, is pretty good ~ highly recommend. I don't advise, however, sitting in the wood chairs by the dish drop off area because bugs WILL get into your food/drink. It was the only seating available during my visit and I was disgusted to find 3 nats in my singular glass of wine. IV. CAPACITY Packed on the weekends. This place is lively. I would try and visit during a weekday to get more available seat options.

I love the vibe of this cafe! If you're a plant and flowers lovers this is the place for you they sell bouquets of flowers and a bunch of other stuff. Recommendation: - matcha latte - mint cold brew - vanilla bean latte Service: There was a lot of orders before us so it took a while to get our drinks but everyone was really nice

What a fantastic coffee shop! Love the drink options that include seasonal specials, the food options that include vegan bites, and the decor/merch that even includes baby clothes and toys. I ended up buying my little one a rattle toy and a book :) The plant-based frittata sandwich is delicious - we came back again just to have it! The soyrizo burrito was good as well but a clear second place to the frittata. I really liked my soy latte, though the clear winner was my husband's mocha - made with Valrhona chocolate. Probably one of the best mochas I've ever had. On the non-coffee drink front, the ube matcha was outstanding. This location has street parking all around and two 30 minute parking spots. The only bad thing is charging +$1 for oat or almond milk (those are the only alternative milk options). It's a pet peeve of mine that coffee shops do this, especially a ridiculous amount like $1! Overall an absolutely wonderful cafe that I will return to when I'm back in SD!
